Rodolfo G. Gomez went to be with his Lord Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at the age of 83. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on September 13, 1940 to the late Librada and Roman Gomez. Rodolfo served his country in the United States Army. After his return he worked and retired from Alamo Cement Company after 40 years as a Mechanic and Welder. Affectionally known as “Ropo” by all his family and friends, he was a loving and caring man. He was a hard-working man with a free spirit. Ropo was an Artist who created many sculptures throughout San Antonio. Welding was his passion. He created BBQ pits, metal sculptures and emblems. His family was very important to him. They enjoyed camping and being outdoors. One of the special places was fishing and camping at the Frio River.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Elia Dice, son, Victor Zapata. Ropo will be dearly missed by his wife of 49 years, Consuelo “Connie” Gomez; children, Elizabeth Gomez (Ed), Elsa Learing (Bill), Gracie Turner (John), Rubi Gomez, Yvette Burleson (Neil) and Rodolfo Gomez Jr.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Roman Gomez Jr., Ramiro Gomez (Teresa), Maria “Mucha” Escalante, Hercilia Garcia (Frank) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
