Rodolfo Garcia
December 18, 1929 ~ October 31, 2022
Born in:
Mission , Texas
Resided in:
San Antonio, Texas
Our precious Dad, Rodolfo “Rudy” Garcia, passed away on Monday, October 31st, 2022 at the age of 92. After several months of declining health, he died peacefully surrounded by his beloved family.
Dad was born on December 18, 1929 to Victoria and Rafael Garcia in Mission, Texas, and was the oldest of 10 children. His childhood was humble yet full of love, family and hard work. At a young age, he had to stop going to school to help his Dad. He labored on an orange tree farm, watering the fields and then harvesting. He would cut wood for his Dad to sell, take care of animals, like milking cows and then go to sell the milk. He also helped his Mom with some household chores. He enjoyed and felt good about helping his parents. This instilled the work ethic that carried him throughout his life.
As he got older, he worked first at a piano store called Harmony House, then worked over 20 years at chemical plants, Hayes-Sammons and Helena Chemical. He married young to his first wife, Francisca, who is deceased. She gave him his three sons: Rodolfo Jr, Rolando, and Rafael. His second wife who is also deceased, Teodora Mercedes, gave him Rebeca, Elia and Robert including Juan, Rosa, Gerardo, and Laura.
In his life, he went through many trials and hardships, but they led him to his greatest testimony. When he came to know the Lord and was born again, his life was changed. He loved to worship and would not hold back in giving God the praise for what He did in his life. He loved his family so much. He enjoyed visiting people, praying for the sick and witnessing to as many people about the Lord. Dad was a devoted husband, loving father, caring grandpa/Tito, faithful brother/ friend and servant of God.
And because his life was changed, we have the great example that God can transform any life today and throughout generations to come. His great testimony and legacy will remain forever. Rodolfo is preceded in death by his wife, Teodora M. Garcia; sons, Rudy and Rafael Garcia; grandchildren, Marty and Tristen Olivia; great-grandchild, Andresito; brothers, Jose Garcia Ambrosio, Rafaelito and Paulito; sisters, Baby Alicia and Guadalupe Guerrero.
Left to carry on his memory and legacy are his children, Roland (Barbara) Garcia, Roberto (Teresa) Garcia, Rebeca (Brandon) Cox and Elia (Rodney) Blue, Rosa, Juan, Gerardo and Laura; daughter-in-law, Juanita Garcia; sisters, Victoria Olivarez, Anjelita Gomez and Anselmo Garcia; grandchildren, Sara, Raquel, Marcos, Roland Jr., Deyanira, Kaleb, Konner, Tyler, Haley, Kendall, Tami, Rey, Guillermo Jr., Itzel, Denise, Juan Jr., Gerardo, Jorge, Starlet, Alan, Ivan and Michelle; great-grandchildren, David, Maritza, Sasha, Mia, J.R., Marcos Jr., Danny, Corben, Marlee, Maeleigh, Stormy, Liam, Ari, Jasmin, Victoria, Sara, Natalia, Ian and Mateo; great-great granddaughter, Amara; extended family and friends.

I was blessed to know Bro Rudy. We would sit and talk for hours when he was feeling good. He could always make me laugh out loud! On days when he didn’t feel to good, we would just sit together, talk some, thankful we could share quiet time together. I would hold his hand( it was always cold) and squeeze it very once in awhile letting him know I was still there. I will miss you my friend. Will see you again one day and we will praise the Lord together, forever.
I will not be able to attend the funeral due to a medical procedure. I so love this family and loved Bro Garcia. I am sorry for your loss. Heaven has gained a jewel of a man. I am praying for the family.
