Our beloved angel, Romello Jackius Hurd, affectionately known as “Mello,” gained his heavenly wings at
the young age of 2 on October 20, 2023. He was born on June 11, 2021 to parents
Robert Hurd and Shaundra Hughes in San Antonio, Texas.
Mello was a very loving child who had such a big heart. He was very active, inquisitive, and always
wanted to understand how things worked. His grandmother Greta, nicknamed him “Thundercat”
because you would frequently catch him running quickly around the house playing, laughing, and
terrorizing his older brothers.
He enjoyed watching Cocomelon, Baby Shark, Boss Baby, and many other popular cartoon series on his
tablet. He also loved to Facetime family and friends using his iPhone. He was known as the “little BIG
brother”, and was so full of life. Mello will forever be remembered in our hearts.
Mello is now joined with his heavenly family; his great-grandmother: Alice Mary Cooper, his greatgrandfather Robert Hughes Sr., his great-uncles: Michael Henderson, Clifton Hurd, Samuel Mooney, his
uncle: Michael Hurd, and aunt: Meshon Hurd.
He leaves to cherish his loving parents: Robert Hurd, Shaundra Hughes-Hurd, his brothers: Robert
(JuneBug) Hurd Jr., Ra’Jean (Ray-Ray) Hurd; maternal grandparents: Greta and Charles Nation, and his
grandfather: Gregory Hughes, his paternal grandparents: Robert and Tammy Hutchinson, and
grandmother: Miranda Hurd; maternal great-grandparents: Jean and Lenard Howard, and Gloria
Bennett, his paternal great-grandparent: Jean Henderson; aunts: LaToya Hurd, Marsha Stewart, Keyanna
Giles, Tania Hurd, Peachlyn Hutchinson, Alaya Powell, and Megan Hughes; uncles: Kendrick Cooper,

You will be missed. I will miss your smile. Praying for God’s comfort, peace and strength in the days to come for the family. Rest well baby boy. You made a difference and you will live on in our hearts.
I’m not sure if you’re my cousin Samantha Hurd if you are or not I still want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the love you’re showing to our baby boy.
Well son Daddy is at work thinking about you. The pain hurts deeply. I’m trying to figure why God had to take you away.
I know you would want Daddy to be strong son but it’s hard.
