Elder Ronnie Johnson Sr.
December 27, 1948 ~ June 2, 2026
Born in:
Jasper, Alabama
Resided in:
San Antonio, Texas
Ronnie Johnson, Sr. entered eternal rest surrounded by the love of family, friends, and the countless lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey. A devoted husband, son, father, brother, mentor, leader, and servant of God, Ronnie leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, excellence, and compassion that will continue to inspire generations.
Born in Jasper, Alabama, Ronnie was the eldest son born to “the late” James Johnson and “the late” Elsie (Hollis) Johnson. As the eldest son of thirteen children—five brothers and seven sisters—he naturally embraced the role of leader, protector, and example. The protector, when his brother Ralph Johnson’s foot was severely cut, Ronnie picked up his brother and ran carrying him home to their parents. The Johnson family later relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, where five of the younger siblings were born, establishing family roots in both Jasper and Cleveland. From an early age, Ronnie demonstrated the qualities that would define his life: determination, wisdom, integrity, and a deep commitment to helping others succeed.
Following his graduation from high school in 1967, Ronnie answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy. During his military service, he distinguished himself in Bootcamp as a Master-at-Arms and on active duty as a Water Safety Instructor, training Navy personnel in swimming and water survival skills. His dedication and pride in military service became a powerful influence on his family, inspiring both his brother, Michael Johnson, and his son, Ronnie Johnson, Jr., to follow in his footsteps and serve their nation in the United States Navy.
Ronnie dedicated his life to serving humanity in every sphere he entered. He attended Clayton State University and had an entrepreneurial spirit. Professionally, he made significant contributions in the manufacturing industry, where his creativity, innovation, and leadership led to the development of work tools that improved efficiency and created opportunities for many people. He possessed a unique ability to recognize challenges, develop solutions, and empower others to achieve success. His commitment to excellence earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues, employees, and leaders alike.
His greatest passion, however, was serving God and people. As an Elder in the U.S. Presbyterian Church, Ronnie faithfully invested his time, talents, and leadership into ministry. Among his many accomplishments was the development of “God’s Happy Hour,” a thriving singles ministry in Georgia that provided fellowship, encouragement, spiritual growth, and meaningful connections for countless adults seeking community and faith-based support.
Ronnie was also known as a prolific and powerful public speaker whose words informed, inspired, and transformed lives. Whether speaking from the pulpit, addressing conferences, leading workshops, or mentoring young people, he captivated audiences through personal stories, heartfelt poetry, thoughtful research, and well-documented insights. His gift for communication enabled him to connect deeply with people from all walks of life, leaving listeners both challenged and encouraged.
Driven by a desire to help others realize their full potential, Ronnie founded and served as CEO of Visioneer, a dynamic motivational consulting business dedicated to leadership development, personal growth, and empowerment. The organization was sanctioned by the Governor of Georgia, and Ronnie became a highly sought-after speaker and consultant throughout Georgia and across the nation. Through Visioneer, he inspired thousands to pursue excellence, embrace purpose, and transform their dreams into reality.
A passionate advocate for the next generation, Ronnie devoted countless hours to mentoring youth and young adults. He believed that every young person possessed untapped greatness and worked tirelessly to encourage, guide, and equip them for success. Many who crossed his path credit his wisdom, encouragement, and belief in their potential as a turning point in their lives.
The state of Georgia remained Ronnie’s cherished home for many years until God brought a new chapter into his life through Rev. Dr. Pamela A. Sattiewhite. Their love story culminated in holy matrimony on January 1, 2009, and together they embarked upon a beautiful journey built on faith, friendship, devotion, and unconditional love. Following their marriage, Ronnie relocated to San Antonio, Texas, where they continued building a life of purpose, service, and ministry together. Ronnie whole heartedly supported his wife’s call to ministry and served alongside her through the United Methodist Church Clergy Candidacy process, Veterans Administration Residence Chaplaincy, and Interim Ministry opportunities. Ronnie was proud of his role as “First Man” and continued to use his spiritual gifts in the Body of Christ. Their partnership remained steadfast and loving until the Lord called him home.
In July 2017, Ronnie faced one of the greatest challenges of his life when he was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. True to the character that defined his life, Ronnie met this diagnosis with remarkable grace, unwavering faith, and the heart of a champion. Rather than allowing the disease to define him, he continued to inspire those around him through his courage, resilience, and steadfast trust in God.
Throughout his journey with ALS, Ronnie and his beloved wife, Dr. Pamela, navigated the challenges of the disease together with strength, determination, and hope. They were supported by the compassionate care and dedication of VA medical professionals, the prayers and encouragement of family and friends, and most importantly, their faith in God’s sustaining presence. While ALS gradually changed Ronnie’s physical abilities, it never diminished the essence of who he was. His body showed signs of change, but his love, his heart, his compassion, and his humanity continued to shine brightly for all who knew him.
Even in the face of adversity, Ronnie remained an encourager, mentor, man of faith, and source of inspiration. His life stands as a testament to perseverance, dignity, courage, and the power of faith to sustain the human spirit through every season of life.
Ronnie Johnson, Sr. will be remembered for his unwavering faith, visionary leadership, generous spirit, and profound commitment to helping others discover their God-given purpose. He lived a life marked by service, excellence, integrity, and love—a life that reflected the values he cherished and the God he faithfully served.
Ronnie’s parents, James A. Johnson, Sr and Elsie (Hollis) Johnson and one sibling, James A. Johnson, Jr., preceded him in death.
His legacy and precious memory lives on through his loving and devoted wife, Rev. Dr. Pamela Sattiewhite of seventeen years, his beloved son, Ronnie Johnson, Jr., siblings, Ms. Billie Jean (Johnson) Brown (“the late” Wilbert), Michael Johnson (“the late” Desiree), Dr. Elaine (Johnson) Lee (George), Ralph
Johnson, Lola “Nina” Johnson, Melissa Johnson, Shawn Johnson (Lisa), Dr. Valorie (Johnson) Kenniebrew (Maurice), Kymberly (Johnson) Brazelton (“the late” David), Jennifer Johnson, and Corey L. Johnson and a host of extended family, in-laws, Wendell and Mable (Sattiewhite) Corprew, Cathryn Renee’ Sattiewhite, Anthony and Alfreda (Sattiewhite) Rutherford, Bro Keith Dixon, friends, mentees, church family, and the countless individuals whose lives were forever changed by his wisdom, encouragement, and example. Though ALS affected Ronnie’s body, it never touched his spirit. His faith remained strong, his love remained constant, and his light continued to shine brightly until the Lord called him home.
