Rosa I. Serna went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 9, 2021 at the age of 54 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on September 13, 1966 in Laredo, Texas. Rosa graduated from Cigarroa High School in 1986. She worked for De Zavala Elementary School in San Antonio Independent School District for seven years. She officially retired after her first grandchild was born. Rosa enjoyed traveling to New Mexico to sightsee the mountains and enjoy the beauty of nature. She also had a passion for gardening; she had a variety of fruit trees, but she especially loved palm trees. Her joy and pride was caring for her grandchildren. Rosa was the most kind, patient, loving, humble beautiful soul. She will be missed dearly and she will live in her family’s hearts forever. She is preceded in death by her late parents Maria Elena and Armando Rodriguez. Rosa is survived by her husband of 36 years, Hugo A. Serna; children, Jennifer Castillo and her husband, John, Cassandra Serna and her husband, Mundo, Roseann Jimenez and her husband, Rey, Samantha Serna; step-son, Jose Aguilar; grandchildren, Alessandra Avalos, Landyn Jimenez, Liam Jimenez, Ella Torres, Amelie Castillo, Adeline Castillo; step grandchildren Jayden Aguilar, Jose Aguilar Jr, Jonathan Aguilar, Joshua Aguilar, Josselin Aguilar; siblings, Maricela Rodriguez, Armando Rodriguez II, Fernando Rodriguez, Sara Martinez, Rolando Rodriguez and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was very shy at first but was always the leader and the mentor . She always knew her way at that kitchen . It was a pleasure to have known her and her family through the years . I was blessed to be invited to baby showers , birthday parties and weddings . She always knew how to have a party . Great ideas to the party decorations. She loved her girls and her grandchildren.
