With loving hearts and cherished memories, we celebrate the life and legacy of Mrs. Roylene (Tones) Williams, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Roylene was born on September 4, 1942, in Lavaca County, Texas, to the late Louis and Velma Tones. She was the second child born to their union. At an early age, Roylene accepted Christ into her life and united with the Methodist Church in Vienna, Texas, establishing a foundation of faith that would remain with her throughout her life.
Roylene graduated from Stevens Mayo High School in 1960. She later became a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas, where she faithfully participated in Bible study, Sunday school, and the Missionary Chorus. Her love for the Lord was evident not only in her worship but also in the kindness, generosity, and compassion she extended to others.
A woman of dedication and a strong work ethic, Roylene devoted 17 years of service to Bexar County Hospital in the Transportation Department. On September 16, 1979, she began a career in nursing service at San Antonio State Hospital, where she faithfully served for 24 years before retiring on July 20, 2005. Throughout her career, she demonstrated a genuine commitment to caring for others.
Retirement brought Roylene the opportunity to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. She loved traveling with her family, attending exercise classes, playing cards and dominoes with friends, and spending time at the senior center. She also found joy in serving as a Momma Patrol, helping ensure the safety of children. Her warm spirit, welcoming presence, and love for people made her a blessing to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Above all, Roylene treasured her family. She found her greatest happiness in the love and laughter shared with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. The memories she created and the wisdom she imparted will continue to live in the hearts of those she loved.
Roylene was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Velma and Louis Tones; her three brothers, Louis A. Tones, William (Gladys) Tones, and Larry (Carolyn) Tones.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving daughter, Rogenia Ellis; two grandsons, Robert Ellis Jr. and Palus Clack; three great-grandchildren, Niles, Nyla, and Robert; her sister, Lottie Ray (Presley) Sims; her aunt, Delton King; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends Though her earthly journey has come to an end, Roylene’s legacy of faith, service, kindness, and unconditional love will continue through the generations she leaves behind.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that a life so beautifully lived and a love so freely given will never be forgotten.
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:21
Forever in our hearts, always in our memories, and eternally in God’s care.

This news broke my dad’s heart, but we know you are at peace now. Fly high.
My deepest sympathy to the family, may God keep blessing you all. I worked indirectly with this classy lady, if you in the room with her, her presence would light up the space.
Again Bless you all.
