Life Story of Sarah Louise Roberson But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch, as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15: 57-58 A Time to Be Born Sarah Louise James Roberson was born on February 27, 1944 to Ruby Louise (Ferguson) James and Joseph James, Sr. in LaGrange, Texas. Sarah attended primary school in LaGrange, Texas; she completed secondary school in San Antonio, Texas and graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School. After high school, she enrolled into Durham Business School for secretarial skills. A Time to Live Sarah married the love of her life, Wilburn Roberson on February 19, 1964 and they shared 49 years of a loving and wonderful life together. She was independent, quiet, and hardworking, possessing a keen sense of intuition about life, and common sense. Not easy to anger, she had a loving, nurturing, and giving spirit that will never be forgotten. Sarah was a "second mother", to all her younger siblings. She and Wilburn loved to travel, back in the day, always on the go; we, (her siblings), called them the "Gypsies". Sarah held many jobs; she was a remarkably talented cook, and assistant chef, working at several restaurants. During the 80's, she and Wilburn moved to Atlantic City, New Jersey, where she worked as a Security Officer for Resort Casino Hotel for 20 years. Sarah and Wilburn moved back to San Antonio, Texas in 2006 to settle down where she finally retired. Sarah's passions also included caring for her baby-boy, "T-bone", her dog. Her greatest joys were cooking, cleaning, and planning lots of backyard BBQ's. Sarah found great pleasure in providing delicious meals to all she loved and was known, around the world, for her "pot of beans", cornbread, peach cobbler, and brisket. Wilburn would always brag that he did all the barbequing, but we all knew who was behind the scenes making it happen. Sarah was a devoted wife, and faithfully took care of her husband Wilburn, until his death. Sarah joined Greater Evangelist Temple in 2013, where she rededicated her life to God. A Time to Release Even during the last 6 months of failing health, Sarah was blessed with a grace, which only God can give one who has been so independent, to submit to the care of others. Early on the morning of June 19, 2014, at Normandy Terrance Rehabilitation Facility, Sarah Louise Roberson answered God's call and departed this life for her eternal rest. Sarah was preceded in death by her loving spouse, Wilburn Roberson; her maternal grandparents, Birdie & David Ferguson; her parents; brothers: Joseph, Leroy, O'Neal James, and Murphy Smith. Leaving to cherish her memory, her sisters: Sandra Collins Ramey (Clarence) Inglewood, CA, Doris Jean James, Gwendolyn Clack Yates (Kevin) Oklahoma City, OK; sister-in-law, Sandra Smith of San Antonio, TX; special nieces: Stacey Smith (Karl), Amber Yates, Bria Yates; special nephews: Shontae Dunn, David Ramey, Casey Smith; great nieces, Taryn and Kelis Dunn, Tyler and Jordyn Ramey, Jaylin Smith, Alexia Marshall Yates; great nephew, Isaiah Smith; and extraordinary special cousins, "Deena and Milton Ford and the entire Ford Family, a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
