I loved Sherbie. I met her as she started dialysis at Northside, and my strongest impressions were her joy for life, her love for her kids and her optimism for the future. Nothing ever seemed to be overwhelming for her; she handled all that life dealt her. I have moved away from San Antonio, but every time I could, I went to see her at Lockehill. She never changed. The last time I saw her, she told me about her girls, her grandkids, and how happy she was. I just think someone who looks at life that way has a very strong faith and that is to be admired. I will miss Sherbie, and yet I know that she will never have to suffer again.
