Born in:
San Antonio, Texas
Resided in:
San Antonio, Texas
Our beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, Shontell L. Ray, entered eternal rest on March 13, 2024 at the young age of 49. She was born on June 7, 1974 in San Antonio, Texas to Hortense Smith.
Shontell, a Texas native, grew up on the eastside of San Antonio, and graduated in 1992 from Ft. Sam Houston high school, where she earned her diploma.
She was very loving to her family and friends, as well a devoted and supportive mother to her two children. There was not a time there was an event and her presence was not felt. She was known as the “life of the party,” and always brought her kind spirit, generous heart, and her infectious laugh.
Her kind heart extended beyond her family as she pursued a career in the insurance industry. Shontell worked at State Farm as an insurance agent for many years.
She will be forever cherished and deeply missed.
Shontell leaves to cherish in her memory, her children: Tronice Ray and Charles Mayberry (Donada), her grandson: Jackson Callender of 3 years old, whom affectionately called her “Nino,” and her soon-to-be born grandson: Charles Mayberry IV, her mother: Hortense Smith, her brother: Calvert Smith Jr., her sister: Sabrina Smith, her best friends: Robbie Mays and Elgria Godley, and a host of many other close relatives and friends.
