Stanley Lawrence Syslo, Jr., 81, peacefully passed away on Friday, August 9, 2013, at his home in the presence of his family and close friends. Stan endured a long battle with cancer but remained positive to the end. He was much loved by his family and friends, making a lasting impression on all those who met him. Born in Primrose, Nebraska on August 10, 1931, he was one of 13 children and became a carpenter at the age of 16. After serving in Korea from 1952 to 1954 and four more years of reserves, he started his own successful construction company and continued his passion for over 50 years. After moving to San Antonio, Texas in 2000, he retired. Stan leaves behind his son, Steven Syslo, daughter, Anne Arnst, son-in-law, David Arnst, and two grandsons, Daniel and Matthew Arnst. The many friends he made while on this earth will always remember him. A rosary will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Friday, August 16, 2013, at 6 pm. The funeral mass will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at 9:00 am with burial at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:00 am.
