Tillie C. Matta

On April 21, 2016, the Lord welcomed our beloved Grandmama, Matilda "Tillie" Matta home. She is at peace now, with her husband of 59 years Bennie Matta, whom she met while attending Irving Junior School. Tillie graduated from Fox Tech HS, where she was the proud captain of the Red Jackets. Ever the strong and vivacious presence, Tillie became PTA president of Lee HS and was honored with a lifetime membership. She has never known a stranger and is well known throughout the city and Sisterdale, Texas for her generosity and charming wit. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rudolpho and Carrie Cantu and her brother Rudolpho Cantu, Jr. and Rose Cantu, and brother-in-law Ramiro T. Galindo. She is survived by her sister Irene Galindo, her daughter Carolyn Guajardo and husband Raymond, her son Victor Matta and wife Susan, her grandchildren Sharon Sanchez and husband Leroy, Victor Matta, Jr. and Kelly Matta and great-grandchildren Lauren and Olivia Sanchez, Ellie Matta, Mark Jimenez and Conner Nye. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 1pm at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 8500 Cross Mountain Trail, San Antonio, TX 78255.
