Timika Cozette Benton was born to Callie Mae Benton and Eddie Wayne Olgivie Sr. in San Antonio, Texas on July 11, 1974. She attended Burnet Elementary, Page Middle School, and graduated from Fox Tech High School. Throughout her school years Timika was an all-around athlete, there wasn’t a sport she didn’t enjoy. And her love of music lead her to play in the orchestra; her instruments being the clarinet and the cello.
Following graduation Timika took on her first job working on Fort Sam Houston in Optometry. She later started working in telemarketing which was great because she enjoyed talking to people. She was a lively person who loved to joke and have fun. The warning was to not get on her bad side, though kind and caring she was also feisty and spoke her mind.
Timika was introduced to Christ at Emmanuel Baptist Church under the leadership of Hamice James III . Though her life ventured from the church she knew that God was the head of her life. She continued to give Him glory and honor even more so when she returned to her church home.
Timika dedicated herself to her friends and family, this including her three children. Her family was her world and first priority. She treasured being a daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and friend. If you needed a constant friend or dance partner she was there. She loved to have fun, never turning down a family gathering or get together.
Never ceasing to enjoy the fun Timika also endured some trying times making her a relentless fighter and strong warrior. She battled cancer for seven years and in remission for two. No matter how hard the rode got she fought until the very end finding peace and returning to her heavenly Father on March 5, 2023.
Timika was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ella Mae and Marvin Benton Sr. and Almeter Adams.
She leaves to cherish her memories her mother and father; her three children, one daughter Shanté Benton and two sons Juwan O’Neil and Anthony Benton-Ross; many brothers and sisters, Alta Benton, Lantoya Holmes, Demetrica Ellis, Tammy Pinson, Precious Olgivie, Bianca Batts, Tamika Jefferson, Corey Olgivie, Leticia Hayes, Terrell Hayes, Brandon Olgivie, Eddie Olgivie Jr., Tammie Young, Allen Johnson, DeIra Acosta, and Raphael Hayes; her grandchildren, Keymori Cooper, Za’Niyah Cooper, Ricky Smith, Ariel O’Neil, Jacob O’Neil, Isabella O’Neil, and Ivy Benton-Ross; her fiancé Willie Smith; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
