Resided in: San Antonio, Texas

Truler Barnes, a loving and devoted sister, aunt, and dear friend, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, just days before her 93rd birthday. Born on May 9, 1933, Truler lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep faith, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and those around her.

Truler found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed watching game shows, working word puzzles, and sharing laughter and conversation with loved ones. Gentle in spirit and generous by nature, she was known for her kindness, patience, and selflessness. She rarely complained and consistently placed the needs of others above her own, offering comfort, wisdom, and warmth to everyone blessed to know her.

A gifted speller long before the days of electronic spell check, Truler became the neighborhood’s trusted “human dictionary,” always ready to lovingly correct a word or help someone find the right spelling with a smile. She possessed a sharp mind and a lifelong love of learning that remained with her throughout her years.

Above all, Truler was a woman of deep and abiding faith. She was an avid reader and student of God’s Word, faithfully dedicating time each day to Scripture, prayer, and Bible study. She loved teaching and sharing the Scriptures with others, quietly encouraging those around her through her wisdom, grace, and steadfast example of Christian living. Her faith was not only something she professed, but something she lived daily through humility, compassion, and service to others.

Truler also had a nurturing and caring spirit that touched many families throughout her life. She devoted much of her time to caring for children, babysitting, and lovingly supporting families in her community. Her gentle presence and dependable nature made her a trusted source of comfort and care for generations of children and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Mr. Eury Barnes and Mrs. Truler Barnes; her nieces, Jo Ann Robinson Brown, Clara Robinson, and Dorothy Hall; and her nephews, Eugene Brown, Fred Hall, and great nephew, Joseph Brown.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving nieces, Ruby James and Mary Robinson; her nephew, Lee Carl Hall; along with a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will continue to carry her love and legacy in their hearts
