Vanessa Ann Esbry arrived in this world on October 11, 1955 in Port Arthur, Texas. to Robena V. Doffeny and Louis Esbry, Jr. and left her foot print in this world on Tuesday April 4, 2023 at the age of 67. Vanessa was affectionately called “Nessa” or “Nell” by her family and close friends.

Vanessa was baptized and confirmed at an early age at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She received her formal education at Abraham Lincoln High School in Port Arthur, Texas, where she graduated in May of 1974.

Upon graduation, Vanessa served actively in the U.S. Marine Corp at Camp LaJeune for 4 years and then went on to serve 2 years in the U.S. Reserves. After her years in the U.S. Armed Services she relocated to San Antonio, Texas.

In 1978, Vanessa became an employee of Bexar County Sheriff’s Office for 40 years. She retired from Bexar County in 2018.

Vanessa enjoyed sports of all kinds, spending quality time with family and friends. Taking her family members on tour events around San Antonio and playing a good game of cards or dominoes. You couldn’t beat her skills.

She leaves behind her siblings to cherish her memory, Keith Guillory, Rhoda Doffeny, Rhonda Guillory Brown, Lee “Hatch” Doffeny, Sr., and Arronia Doffeny; her nieces and nephews includes Timothy Wycoff, Jr., Lee Doffeny,Jr., Joshua Bobb, Latavia Guillory, Brandon Jessie, Sr., Quincy Doffeny, Brandy Jessie, Jourdan Doffeny, and Kenneth Brown, Jr.; her grand nieces and nephews include: Lee Doffeny III, Elijah Doffeny, Isaiah Doffeny, Knylah Doffeny, Leelah Doffeny, Brandon Jessie, Jr., Kayson Doffeny, as well as a host of cousins, friends, co-workers and neighbors.

I will miss you so very much I keep thinking about what a pretty smile you always kept especially the day you retired after doing 40 glorious years of service and thank you again and also for your military years of service and I was looking over the pictures its been 5 years you were such a very smart and very knowledgeable on just about any subject we go sooo far back all the way to the old bexar jail im sure its not that many employee numbers that are 4 digit that still work at the jail like ours I will always cherise how very sweet you were you taught me a lot once I started working for Bcso years ago. I loved the times we worked together and even off duty those phone calls I still have your lovely voicemail that you left not long enough im still in shock until we meet again one day. You were such a blessing. You would often refer to me and others as homegirl referring to myself and others you were a very good friend. Well dear heart you would use that phrash a lot as well with that pretty smile till we meet again Vanessa Ann Esbry.
