William Allen

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, William Hedrick Allen, entered eternal rest on November 22, 2023 at the age of 91. He was born on August 30, 1932 in Flatonia, Texas to parents: William Allen and Carry Winn.

William attended Phyliss Wheatley high school, where he graduated and earned his diploma in 1950. Later in life, he met and married, Ella Bea Turner. They shared a wonderful union of 56 years together, until his departure.

William was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and although he was very family oriented, he also enjoyed the nightlife. You would always catch William out dressed to the nines. William was also a hard-working man. He worked various jobs to provide for his family. He last held a position as a maintenance man with Randolph School District, where he served 16 years until retirement. In his spare time, William also enjoyed auto mechanics where he worked on many kinds of vehicles.

He will be forever cherished and deeply missed.

William is preceded in death by his parents, and his uncle: Harold Winn Sr., stepsons: Eli Turner, and Samuel Turner.

He leaves to cherish in his memory, his beloved wife, Ella B. Allen; stepdaughters: Ella Marsh and Gwen Montgomery; grandsons: Archie Johnson, Stephen Mitchell; and 2 great-grandsons: Iman Johnson and Rasul Johnson; and one great-great grandson: Cane Johnson. He was especially close to his cousin, Laura (Tillie) Bankston. He also leaves to cherish numerous other close relatives and friends.
