Yolanda Perez
November 30, 1949 ~ August 14, 2023
Born in:
Sabinas , Mexico
Resided in:
Ashburn , Virginia
Yolanda Perez was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She went to be with our Lord on Monday, August 14, 2023 at the age of 73.
Yolanda was born to Rumalda Esquivel Hernandez and Felipe Perez on November 30, 1949 in Sabinas Coahuila, Mexico.
Yolanda was raised on a farm which fostered her love of animals, nature, and gardening. She was always so proud of her vegetable garden (so many of us benefitted, literally, from the fruits (and vegetables) of her labor). Life on the farm made her a diligent, strong-willed and an independent woman. She instilled all these traits and more in her children.
Family was the most important thing in Yolanda’s life, but she was caring and giving to everyone she knew. No matter how much or how little she had, she always found a way to give enthusiastically to others. She freely gave money, food, clothing, her time, her advice, and most importantly her heart and love. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends; dancing around the house; and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She lived through and for the experiences of others. But to truly know Yolanda, you must know that she loved to laugh. Whether it was laughing with her best friend, Sue Flowers, or enjoying daily giggles on the phone with one or more of her sisters…Yolanda was going to fill her day with laughter. Now whether it be with you, at you or at the expense of someone else, to hear her laugh was heavenly and brought us so much joy. It is that laugh and unwavering love that we will miss the most.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Rumalda Esquivel de Perez and Felipe Perez and her brothers Agustin Esquivel Perez and Eduardo Esquivel Perez.
Her children and grandchildren were her greatest love. She is survived by her children Jerry Grant, Madalyn (Sean) Ward, Angela (Willie) Keeler, Darrell Grant, Phillip (Gloria) Grant, Tanya (Michael) Tilbury and Lawrence Grant; 12 grandchildren Jordyn, Lauryn, and Kamryn Burcham, Jackson and Grayson Ward, Kesha Tatum, Marques, Mitchell, and Myles Keeler, Phillip Grant Jr., Amaya and Jaden Tilbury; and 3 great-grandchildren Malakai Keeler, Dion Jr. and Kiera Tatum. She is also survived by her sisters, “las hermanas Perez”: Maria, Rosa Elia, Rumalda, Julia, and Maria Guadalupe “Lupina” who she loved dearly; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Yolanda touched the lives of so many, and inspired others to be as independent, loyal, hard-working and diligent as she was. Her passing has left a hole in the hearts of so many; this serves as a testament to the wonderful person she was. The world is a better place because she existed and feels emptier because of her departure from it. She will be dearly missed.

No truer words have ever been spoken. There is no one quite like her and her presence will be missed dearly. My heart breaks for the sorrow of my Grant cousins but her legacy will live on in each of you. I pray for your peace and healing. Love you all! ❤️
