Charles Nolan Spivey, 64, passed away tragically in an automobile accident on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
Born on November 19, 1961, in Bowie, Texas, Charles was the beloved son of the late Linda Pearson Spivey and James Nolan Spivey. He grew up with a strong work ethic, a compassionate heart, and a passion for helping others that would define his life’s work.
Charles graduated from Kermit High School with the Class of 1980. He went on to attend Texas Tech University. Dedicated to furthering his education, he later earned his master’s degree from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Charles devoted more than thirty years of his professional career to serving others as a Licensed Behavioral Therapist. At the time of his passing, he was employed as a counselor with Starlite Recovery, where he continued to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those seeking hope, healing, and recovery.
Outside of his profession, Charles enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved reading cowboys and mystery novels, history, and lighthouse books. However, his greatest joy came from spending time outdoors fishing, providing both adventure and peace in nature.
He also loved making treasured memories with his family and enjoyed laughter, adventures, and time shared that will forever be cherished in their hearts.
Charles will be remembered as a caring, compassionate, and loving man who never hesitated to help someone in need. His kindness, generosity, and genuine concern for others touched countless lives throughout his years. Whether through his professional work, his friendships, or his devotion to family, Charles made the world a better place through his unwavering willingness to serve others.
His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Linda Pearson Spivey and James Nolan Spivey; brothers, Luther Dale Spivey and James Weldon Spivey.
He is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Sandra Spivey, children, Jacob Spivey (Abigail), Nathaniel Gonzales and Elizabeth Gonzales; grandson, Alexander and sister, Kathryn Hays and extended family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives were enriched by his kindness and compassion.
A celebration of Charles’s life will be held at First United Pentecostal Church at a later date. The family asks that those who wish to honor his memory do so by extending kindness to others, just as Charles did throughout his life.
