July 4, 1922 ~ January 22, 2008
Geuriel Danini Valera, 85, of San Antonio and formerly of Laredo died on Tuesday of complications from a stroke. Born in Mexico City on July 4, 1922, he was an importer-exporter and pilot who soloed after only four hours of flight training. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Josefina F. Danini; three daughters, Carmina Danini of San Antonio, Elona (Bob) Fudge of South Padre Island, and Josie (Albert) Cortez, also of San Antonio; a sister, Elona Danini of Tampico, Mexico; and four grandchildren, Kristen Supik of San Antonio, Adam Cortez of Austin, Celena Cortez of Boston, Mass., and Carisa (Jesse Bailey) Cortez of Santa Barbara, Calif. He was predeceased by his parents, Geuriel Danini and Paula Valera de Danini; and two brothers, Hector and Hugo Danini. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the Salvation Army, the San Antonio Food Bank, or to a favorite charity. Cremation is planned. A private family Mass will be held later. The family thanks the staff of Metropolitan Methodist and Northeast Baptist Hospitals, Brighton Gardens, Vitas Hospice Care, Drs. Joel Pea and Paul Smith, and Janis Lasser and Jean Hays for their compassion and dedication.

My dearest friend Carmina, I just read about your mother passing and I find out that your father passed before her. Please accept my deepest condolences on both your parents’ passing. I’ve been trying to contact you for a long time, but nobody seems to have your address nor telephone. I hope this message reaches you and you can contact me. It’s been such a long time since we’ve talked. My husband Jorge passed away four years ago. I was depressed for a while, but I’m much better now. I’m retired from LISD but still going to school because school makes me happy. Hope to hear from you.
