Joe Ann was born to Amos and Martha Stanton on April 23,1956 in Hallettsville, Texas. She was baptized at an early age at Grant Memorial AME Church by the late Rev. Johnson.  The family later moved to San Antonio, Texas where she attended the public schools of the San Antonio Independent School District, she later attended Hicks Beauty School.  Joe Ann loved doing hair.  Joe Ann married Stephenson Michael and to that union a son was born who was named Steve.  Later,  a daughter, Lachelle was born to Joe Ann and John Johnston.
Joe Ann lived life to the fullest and enjoyed her little family.  She was a jack of all  trades, she picked up the skill of waitressing and tried cooking.  Her passion was her grandchildren who she had the privilege of naming.  Her last job was at Greenwoods Bar & Grill.
Joe Ann entered into eternal rest on March 22, 2026, with her daughter and son-in-law by her side.  She was proceeded in death by her parents, Amos and Martha Stanton; grandfather, Jake Stanton; siblings, Thomas Green, and Lugene Smith; her daughter’s father, John Johnston; great-nephew, Kevin Brown, Jr. and her grandson, Takhai Michael.
Joe Ann’s memory will be cherished and she will be missed by her children, Steve Michael and Lachelle  Perry (Jeremiah); sister, Jerlene Toleston (Allen) of San Bernardino, California twenty grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Barbara Ann (Thomas), Renita (Terell), Allen, Jr., along with great nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
