john mcneil-mckinnis
Mr. John Edward McNeil-McKinnis was born to Mervin McKinnis and the late Ruth McNeil-Harris in Mobile, Alabama. His grandparents, Sam and Lessie McNeil, Sr., grandparents Dennis and Christine McKinnis, an aunt, Edna McKinnis, uncles, Bishop Willie Lee McNeil, Johnny McNeil, Sam McNeil, Jr., Charles McNeil and Jack McNeil and one niece, Tabbitha L. Collins preceded him in death. He was a longtrme resident of Mobile, Alabama until his family wanted him closer to them here in San Antonio, Texas. John had a very high IQ before he had the accident. He was an outstanding student in school until he was forced to leave school due to being teased and harassed by fellow students. John was a very hard worker, until he was left confined to a wheelchair after having a stroke. John loved watching sports on T.V., music, bingo and arts and crafts. Some of John's favorite things to eat were cheeseburgers and strawberry milk shakes, sodas and coffee. John always made it known to all that he loved his family and that he was the Big Brother. One of our fondest sayings of John was, 'what did you bring me today?' Had John been in better health he would have made sure that he looked after his sisters, brother and anyone he befriended. He is survived by his father, Mervin McKinnis of Mobile, Alabama, siblings, Betty (Johnny) Gage-McQueen of Moreno Valley, California, Beatrice McKinnis-Smith of Sacramento, California, Rosemary (Milton) McKinnis-Fulton, Darryl Earl Harris, Sharron (Julius, Jr.) Harris-Johnson, Debra L. Twenty-two neices and nephews, nineteen great nieces and nephews, one uncle, Curtis (Marie)McNeil of Mobile, Alabama and two aunts, Verleana McNeil and Gladys McNeil, both of Compton, California, Bishop Alfred Perry, a very special and dear friend, a confidant until the very end, and a host of cousins and friends.
