Maria R. Lugo, beloved wife and mother, went to be with the Lord in heaven and join her husband, Angel Luis, August 12, 2019. Maria was born October 22, 1922 in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico to Juan Rodriguez and Josefa Reina. Often, you would see Maria and her husband dancing at La Villita. She loved making jokes and putting a smile on her loved ones faces. Maria would spend her time volunteering at Kenwood Adult Community Center and was also an advocate for the AIDS Foundation. She would donate clothing, makeup, and other necessities to the homeless. Maria is preceded in death by her loving husband, Angel Luis Ruiz; son, Jose Luis Lugo; and grandson, Nicholas Hero. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Emeterio Diaz, Charlie Rodriguez, Emeterio Junior Diaz, Hilda Lugo, Rosemarie (Gilbert) Hero, and Neri Gomez; twenty grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; extended family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all.

Mama I love you ,my heart hurts to know that I can not kiss on those beautiful cheeks, and to see your smile when I would come in with your flowers on Tuesdays to make up for the day that I was gone , mama you and papa was my life how much I love you both , but in my heart you leave forever thank you for being my mom and dad ,you are both together in heaven now you both get to laugh and dance again ,holding hands, from baby Love .

  5. Everyday I go outside and see beautiful flowers or even butterflies it reminds me of you. I miss the days of us talking about novelas or even talking about your childhood those are the memories that put a smile on my face and always make me thank God that I had a wonderful grandmother who always love me unconditionally and you’re my best friend, my partner in crime. I love you until we meet again Mama you’re always in my heart
