Nellie Lee Watson was born on November 11, 1949, to Homer and Katherine Adams .

Nellie graduated from public school and soon after continued her education, earning two associate degrees, including one in Business Management. She was also a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant and Medication Aide, dedicating much of her life to caring for others.

In 1966, Nellie met and married Wesley Watson, and from this union four children were born.

In 1986, Nellie began her journey as an entrepreneur and businesswoman. Alongside her sisters, she opened Sunshine Lodge Personal Care and Boarding Home. The business became her life’s passion and purpose, and she faithfully served her clients until God called her home.

Nellie loved her children, family, friends, and clients dearly. She was a true country cowgirl at heart who enjoyed trail riding, traveling, fishing and making lasting memories with those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, granddaughters Vonshe Watson and India Watson, and her sister, Linda “Cookie” Blackwell.

Nellie leaves to cherish her precious memories her children; Anthony Watson (Carole Jefferson), Edward Watson (Netta), Angela Bennett, and Eric Watson (Veronica); her sister, Carolyn “Lady” Walker; grandchildren Martika Cook, Ehrika Watson (Felipe), Jeremiah Lewis (Nancy), Jarmaine Tinsley, Vivica Chesher (Patrick), and Mya Westin; four great-grandchildren, Cambrie Jo Chesher, Julianna Diaz, Adonis Tinsley, and Kennadie Jackson; nephews Joseph Ross and Carnel Walker Jr.; nieces Bridget Morgan, Zona Ross, and Temekia O’Connor; aunts and uncle,  Laura and Harvey Bacon, Lillian Randall; all of her stepchildren; her beloved clients William, Hal, and Michael, along with a host of family members and lifetime friends.

Nellie’s loving spirit, strength, compassion, and dedication to caring for others will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She departed this life surrounded by the love and memories of those who

cherished her deeply.

  5. As a young child, I had the privilege of being dropped off at Sunshine on the Eastside and be there throughout my summers! It was always a great time and she was always so loving, kind, and welcoming!!! Thank you for looking after me and loving on me all those years! Prayers to my Cousin Tika, Angie and the entire family. May God comfort and be with you all.
